ST: Tell us more about Gnowbe.

Gnowbe is a pioneering mobile, micro-learning solution enabling
enterprises to educate and train their staff on the smartphone so that learning
translates into behavior change and business results.

Based on the latest research of how adults learn, the Gnowbe app is
unique with its focus on application of learning and interactive, bite-sized
multimedia content, accessible on the smartphone for staff anytime, anywhere.

ST: How do you effectively create a mobile learning platform for
productive employees?

Gnowbe is leveraging mobile learning to grow productivity and redefine
employee development in 5 ways:

Bite-sized and accessible. 10
minutes per day. Accessible 24/7. Mobile-first.
Trackable and measurable.
Real-time access to user metrics such as engagement and completion rates.
Action-based. Engaging and
interactive multimedia to drive sustainable behavior change and application of
knowledge.
Peer-to-peer social learning.
Group chats. 1:1 messaging.
Gamification. Rewards,
notifications and leaderboards for increased performance.

ST: How do you leverage the concept of micro learning?

Today’s learners are overwhelmed by the volume of information and suffer
from a short attention span. They expect access to relevant knowledge when and
where they want it. They want content to be succinct and engaging.

Microlearning is providing knowledge in bite-sizes so that learning
becomes more effective: Neuroscience research has shown that small pieces of
content drip fed over a period of time helps employees learn faster and retain
knowledge better than traditional learning methods.
Gnowbe leverages microlearning for an active multimedia experience on the
smartphone and thereby makes learning engaging and fun!
ST: How do you drive employee engagement and a rich e-learning experience
with embedded gamification features?

We have many gamification elements to help the learner complete the
learning journey including rewards, push notifications and leaderboards amongst
others. What is important, however, is to understand that each learner has a
different motivation for learning and therefore needs different nudges. Gnowbe
has been built on intensive user research that led to 6 learner profiles; for
example, the ‘Achiever’ is motivated by public recognition – so Gnowbe provides
certificates that can be shared on LinkedIn- whilst a ‘Competitor’ is motivated
by weekly leaderboards.

As a result, the Gnowbe experience is being enjoyed by our clients’
employees with >90% who feel it is ‘fun’, ‘effective’ and ‘convenient’. Our
engagement rates are 8-10 times higher than traditional e-learning solutions!
ST: How do you attract enterprises or educational institutions to avail
customised training programs that best meet their requirements?

Gnowbe is a spin-off of Awaken Group, a boutique leadership development
and design thinking consultancy. Our first clients came through Awaken Group
and included educational institutions (Ngee Ann Polytechnic and UniSIM), local
businesses (Sentosa) as well as multinationals (Unilever, Hertz).

As business managers we understand the challenges of enterprises and take
pride in helping them solve their unique challenges. Gnowbe’s versatile solution
has enabled  organizations to introduce
faster and more effective onboarding of new employees distribute complex
product knowledge to decentralised sales employees improve customer service
amongst front line staff
ST: Can you explain your pricing model?

Gnowbe’s pricing follows a Software as a Service model, i.e. clients pay
a subscription price based on the number of users.

We also have a free consumer version where individuals can create content
on their smartphone with our app ‘Gnowbefy for Curators’ and invite learners to
enrol via a simple link. Invited learners access and learn content on the
‘Gnowbe’ app for free. Check it out! It is great for trainers, coaches, NGOs,
managers of small dispersed teams.
ST: What are your future plans?

Gnowbe started out with a goal to improve the lives of people through
action-based learning.

Our focus for the next year is in B2B, especially organisations that need
an agile and effective solution to onboard and educate a more and more mobile
and millennial workforce.
Our long term vision is to impact 1 billion people with transformative
learning!
