New Delhi, India, August
07, 2018- The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Apeejay Stya University
(ASU) has collaborated with online major, The Quint, ensuring students’ seamless
exposure to the new media know-how. Further to the tie-up, The Quint has now
become a Knowledge Partner of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC)
at ASU.
Speaking on the development, Nishant Berlia, Pro Chancellor, ASU, said, “This
relationship is a real game changer for those studying Journalism at ASU,
especially with the increasing dominance of digital news globally. Students
will get a chance to spend time in The Quint’s newsroom, learn digital journalism
from some of the best in the business, attend workshops and get the opportunity
for internships and industry experience.
Ritu Kapur, CEO and Co-Founder of The Quint, who signed the contract
with ASU, said “What we have been doing at the newsroom is a lot of
experimenting. The idea is not to be scared to fail, but being scared of
complacency.” She added that it is the creativity and innovation that makes the
medium of news so exciting.
As more and more
people are getting news on the go, on their smartphones and tablets, the Media
Industry has been forced to change the way it disseminates information. In
fact, appointed viewing has become a thing of the past. It is not surprising
that this change has revolutionised the digital news space. News websites have
devised newer and better ways to tell stories in an engaging and crisper
manner. Aided by technology and state-of-the-art graphics, digital &
convergence media is also attracting new viewers through interactive news and
approach.
This partnership
between The Quint and ASU will help the School of Journalism and Mass
Communication to make their students industry-ready so that they are ensured
swift and suitable placement by the time they finish their graduation.
