New Delhi, India, November 20, 2018: Apeejay Stya and Svran Group observed the 99th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Stya Paul, an eminent educationist, industrialist, and freedom fighter with a cultural evening. The Minister of Culture and the Minister of States for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Mahesh Sharma graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, President of Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, said: “My father was able to lead the way and show that spiritual evolution and material success are not necessarily mutually contradictory and in conflict. It is possible to experience both. He taught us that it is possible to achieve material success in life without compromising in one’s core values.”
The commemoration was reverberated by two wonderful performances showing the richness of Indian culture. A performance by ‘Magic on Wheels’ by ‘We Are One’ a troupe of differently-abled artists told meaningful stories through their dance performances. The august gather enjoyed a scintillating sarod recital by Dr. Neha Berlia, the granddaughter of Dr. Stya Paul.
In his speech, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, said: “Dr. Stya Paul and his daughter Sushma Paul Berlia are role models for us and have shown us ways to give back to the society. Dr. Stya Paul is not only remembered for his role in enterprise, but also for his contribution to the society.”
Dr. Stya Paul was the founder of the Apeejay Education Society. He started his entrepreneurial journey in Jalandhar.
