hospital. I am 26 year old and my interest in health field along
with a liking for business leadership led me to join my parents in their
hospital. Armed with relevant degrees in Bachelors in Business & Management
Studies from IILM; Post Graduate Diploma in Global Marketing from Regents
University, London; and a diploma in Marketing from London School of Economics,
I was able to carve a niche for myself in this field of hospital management. I am particularly concerned with the plight of
girl-child and women in our society. I firmly believe that girls can contribute
to their families and society at large.

the virtual world – but I live with a superhuman. She is my mother, Mrs. Sunita
Singh is a role model for me who is a business woman by profession as she is a pillar of strength. She inspires and
motivates me to grow without any barriers. It seems to me that this woman looks
at life as a challenge and wholeheartedly intends to seize the day every day.
My mother looked after me and supported me in every part of my life. Right from
childhood she has been with me like my shadow. It had been riddled with hurdles
and difficulties, but she has managed to cross them all to because of the
amazing and independent person she is. She not only helped me whenever I needed
but she also taught me to help myself.
International Women’s Day?
I see women getting exploited, abused and pushed to the corner everywhere, be
it in small towns or even big cities, I immediately think of taking up cudgels
and doing something to save them. For starters, we must have forums and
discourses to make both men and women aware of women’s rights. This year, I
want to reach out to the victims of societal apathy and help them earn a life
of dignity and honour. My idea of celebrations is not to honour urban women achievers
in different fields – who though, are great successes in their own right, but
have access to a privileged life one way or the other – but to make sure that
small town disadvantaged deprived neglected and unfortunate survivors have some
sort of a platform to share their grievances, and also, get justice along the
way.

her immense contribution in shaping the society. Women’s legal rights, which
have never been equal to men’s on any continent, are being eroded further.
Women’s rights over their own bodies are questioned and undermined. Women are
routinely targeted for intimidation and harassment in cyberspace and in real
life. In the worst cases, extremists and terrorists build their ideologies
around the subjugation of women and girls and single them out for sexual and
gender-based violence, forced marriage and virtual enslavement. Empowering
women and girls is the only way to protect their rights and make sure they can
realize their full potential.

everything of her choice and will.
multitude of talented women of not just what should be rightfully theirs but
also of accomplishing their true potential. It saddens me no end to see even
educated women not getting their due only because traditionally, they are
expected to play a conventional role as merely daughters, wives, sisters and
mothers, and rarely as individuals.

belief system and our generation is so busy trying to prove that women can do
what men can do, women are losing their uniqueness. Women weren’t created to do

of hospitals that addresses concerns of patients and not merely be a business
proposition. I would like to bring back the trust of patients in doctors and
hospitals. I would also like to further continue and enhance my work in helping
women who have gone through trauma of rape, acid attack and other such
experiences as well as help people battling stress and mental problems in
today’s stressful world through mental health therapy like meditation. There
are few voices of concern for women, and I have made it my primary duty to
speak up for the victimized women.
