ST: Who is a woman that inspires you the most and why?
Manbir: Michelle Obama! Michelle Obama is a leader in her own right, she did not sit
quietly beside her husband but working beside him. She created a space and
identity for herself and never let the shadow of her husband overwhelm her.
Michelle Obama is a highly educated, intelligent and passionate working mother
of two. Her work and passions have helped to solidify women’s role in politics.
She has encouraged women to speak in order to be heard.

ST: What is the most important message you want to send out to all the
women around the world on this occasion?
women around the world on this occasion?
Manbir: We don’t have the time to complain that we don’t have
the role models, it is the time to step up and be the role model.

ST: What according to you is ‘women empowerment’?
Manbir: The only person which can empower you is the one in
the mirror. Women need to realise the power within themselves, they need to tap
into their own potential and that itself is empowerment to me. No one
externally can help unless they are ready to dream and work hard for their
dreams.

ST: What would you say are the main challenges facing women at present
in India?
in India?
Manbir: The biggest challenge is that women deprioritize
themselves, they have to give more importance to their own self. They need to
be committed to self, their own growth and goals.
