ST: Please tell us briefly about you.
Vedaxari: I did my Advertising degree from Mumbai University and followed
by that had an opportunity to work closely with Ms. Ekta Kapoor. This was
followed by working with one of the top PR firms of India. In 2012, I had a
back injury and I couldn’t continue with my fulltime job. This led to the
foundation of All Bout Communication. Today, we handle some of the leading
brands and women entrepreneurs of India. All bout Communication, a boot strap
startup, has showcased a consistent growth of 30% per annum since foundation.

ST: Who is a woman that inspires you the most and why?
Vedaxari: Anna Wintour and Meryl Streep inspire me the most. They have
definitely carved a path for themselves and have given so many women an ideal
to look up to.

ST: How are you celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day?
Vedaxari: We
work very closely with women entrepreneurs and professionals. Most of these
women are all rounders who take care of their families, babies and have a full
time career. To acknowledge these power women we know, we plan to send them
power hampers which will have items that a power woman needs on an everyday
basis.

ST: What is the most important message you want to send out to all the
women around the world on this occasion?

Vedaxari: Well I constantly see very talented women, even in a city like Mumbai,
making decisions due to social pressure even if it doesn’t make them happy. I
feel for a better society, women should be allowed to be who they are and do
what they want. The world has changed a lot over last few decades and my
message to all those talented women is ‘Don’t
do something that does not make you happy just to fit into the perfect societal
image created for you’

ST: What according to you is ‘women empowerment’?
Vedaxari: Women Empowerment for me is the liberty to make your own choices. It
could be the choice to get married and become a full time homemaker and raise a
family or it could be the choice to not have kids or make a career. A woman who
has the option to be whatever she wants in any size, shape or color and be
accepted for who she is, is women empowerment to me.

ST: What would you say are the main challenges facing women at present
in India?

Vedaxari: Education is one of the most important tools for empowerment but inspite
of that I have seen many highly educated women making life choices that are
under society pressure. I feel more and more parents need to encourage their
daughters to take charge of their lives and work on making them financially
independent then making them ‘shadi ready’. A financially independent woman
knows how to provide for herself in any dynamics and after all that is the
ultimate empowerment.

ST: Where do you want to see yourself in next 5 years?
Vedaxari: I
hope to see All Bout Communication emerge as one of the leading PR firms of the
country while retaining our roots and culture. For me, success of an
organization comes from its culture and so far we have achieved a very unique
way of working as a firm.
