In an exclusive interview with Startup Terminal; Kapil Gupta, CEO, Shella Consultants shares more insights about the firm and its future strategy.

ST: What inspired you to start up a venture in recruitment? 
Kapil Gupta: On an average looking at India’s economy in the current scenario the country needs to create 1.3 million jobs per month for the next 15 years. 16 years back when I started my journey and ventured into Shella Consultants the overall employment average was much lesser in comparison to today.  Looking at the opportunities, demand and value for Indian Manpower overseas constituted my interest towards venturing into the field of recruitment.

ST: Please tell us more about your organization briefly.
Kapil Gupta: Shella Consultants is an ISO 9001:2008 certified recruitment firm which offers services in the Gulf, Middle East, Africa, Egypt, Russia, Asia, USA and Europe. With an office premises of approx.  3000 sq ft with all modern equipment and the latest communication facilities is situated in a prominent business location.

Shella Consultants has expertise in providing Manpower services to organizations across the globe. Our customer base includes clients since our inception i.e. 2003 as our forte is to adhere to SLAs, (Service Level Agreement- SLA), we have now evolved from a SLA driven organization to one that focuses on Business outcomes for our clients.

Listed below are the sectors in which Shella consultants provide their services:
·         Oil & Gas sector, Construction & Engineering: International & Domestic market
·         Hospitality & Facility Management: International market
·         Shutdown/Maintenance for both International & Domestic market
·         Deputation and Manpower sourcing

ST: What business opportunities do you see particularly in recruitment sector?
Kapil Gupta: Opportunities are largely in sectors like Infrastructure, Electrical and Mechanical in both International and Domestic market. While the market has been performing comparatively low since the past few months, we have a difference of opinion that the Oil & Gas Industry in the Gulf will boom back soon in a matter of few months. 


ST: How has been your entrepreneurship journey so far? 
Kapil Gupta: It has been a very satisfying journey so far. We have a record of satisfied candidates who have entrusted us and returned after completing their term with their respective companies, they are extremely happy and gratified with our offerings & services. These happy faces are the driving force of our commitment and keep our beliefs rock solid and eventually urge us to keep delivering more.

ST: As an entrepreneur, what challenges do you face in your day to day professional life, if any?
Kapil Gupta: The main challenge of any HR consultant is to provide the perfect candidate to the client within the stipulated time frame. The key challenge is to maintain equilibrium between the requirement and the right fit. This functioning keeps us on our toes and by achieving we adhere to keep our clients and candidates happy.

ST: How big is your team? Are you planning to hire more?
Kapil Gupta: The current work force is 30 employees in Mumbai. At the moment we are good to manage the work and client requirement, but in future we intend to grow manifolds once the market opens and money starts floating in for businesses.

ST: What are your future plans? 
Kapil Gupta: As, we cover most of the sectors and business verticals, we now wish to target the areas that are untapped and have a huge potential. To make Shella Consultants a preferred name in man power supply and recruitment in India.
