Gayatri: I
work as a Senior Consultant with Buzzone; creating and managing social media
content for marketers. I have 12+ years of experience in the Media and
Advertising industry. Besides which of course I am always walking a tight rope
balancing work and my home of 2 kids, husband and parent in laws. I always like
to take some time off in pursuing my passion for Cooking. I don’t know about my
husband, however scrumptious and well-presented food palate is definitely the
right way to my heart. My experience of working with Buzzone has brought out
not only the creative best in me but also given me the wings to explore my
potential.

ST: Who is a woman that inspires you the most and why?
Gayatri: I
wish to talk about not one but 2 women who inspire me the most and will
continue to do so. As much as cliché as it sounds, they are the mothers in my
life. One is my biological mother, who has been a successful banker and whom I
have grown up watching her maintain the work-life balance. All of this without
any complaints and with a smile on her face. Second is my Mother in law who has
withstood the most trying and difficult medical conditions only with her will
power and positive attitude. They have always encouraged me to be financially
independent and emotionally strong.

ST: How are you celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day?
Gayatri: Well,
I believe God has created US, Women as a very special breed. A strong women in
her essence is a gift to the world. Most of times with a need to maintain this
work-life balance, I forget what I am all about. My needs, likes, dislikes and
so many other things. Therefore this Women’s Day will start with ME. I plan to
celebrate ME.

ST: What is the most important message you want to send out to all the
women around the world on this occasion?

Gayatri: The
only message I wish to give women today is no matter how much your father or
husband is successful today and takes care of all your financial and emotional needs,
you need to go out there and make a life for yourself. Do Everything or
Anything that makes you happy in a day. Because only a Happy Women will keep a
home Happy.

ST: What according to you is ‘women empowerment’?
Gayatri: Women
Empowerment for me is a situation in life where every women today has the
liberty to take her decisions and is equipped enough physically, financially
and emotionally to withstand any setbacks in her life.

ST: What would you say are the main challenges facing women at present
in India?

of the women in India today are submissive in nature and have to undergo a lot
of physical as well as mental abuse. Another important challenge they face
today is lack of self-defence. With increasing amount of crimes against women,
it is essential that she knows to defend herself against any such mishap.

ST: Where do you want to see yourself in next 5 years?
Gayatri: I
am extremely passionate about cooking. Cooking for me is meditation and brings
out the best in me. Going forward, I wish to see myself pursuing this passion
of mine. Especially during the time when all of us are exposed to the
international multi cuisines, I wish to bring back and remind people of food
from our grandma’s kitchen.
