ST: Please tell us more about yourself.
Kavita Sharma: I’m Kavita Sharma. I’m a shoe
designer, Founder and Creative Director at Only
Two Feet- The Shoe Dilemma. Ever since I can remember, I have been a
shoe lover and collector. But I always felt that the shelf was empty for a
brand that was wise on style and friendly on the pocket. How I wished there was
someone who would get what women wanted from a pair of shoes. Then one day, I
decided to be that person. Decided to leave my 10-year long career in media to
pursue my lifelong love for shoes and my passion to bring comfortable, stylish
and yet affordable shoes to all. My shoe lust took me to the mecca of fashion- Milan,
Italy where I studied footwear designing and collection development at ‘Ars
Sutoria School’, the world-renowned University of Footwear. I then learnt handmade
shoe manufacturing at the ‘Footwear Summer School’ at the London School of
Fashion. I came back and launched my label- Only Two Feet- The
Shoe Dilemma.

ST: Who is your biggest influence in life?
Kavita Sharma: My parents.
Both are working professionals and their job is their biggest passion. I’m
hugely inspired by their work ethic.

ST: What challenges do you face in your day to day professional life, if
any?
any?
Kavita Sharma: Being an
entrepreneur I’m faced with new challenges almost every day. Dealing with
skilled labour is one and sourcing raw material is another. Also decision
making has to be definite and precise and that’s challenging because every
decision can change the course in which you steer your business.

ST: Where do you want to see yourself in next 5 years down the line?
Kavita Sharma: In 5 years Only Two Feet will be a chain of stores
offering quality footwear and bespoke services across the major cities in
India. The dream is that every Indian woman should own at least one pair of Only Two Feet shoes.

ST: What is your message to the readers on ‘International Women’s Day’?
Kavita Sharma: I’m a feminist and like
Dior said through their latest collection- We should all be Feminists! Women
are claiming their due like never before and it’s a great time in history to be
a woman, especially a woman entrepreneur. On a personal note I believe women
are natural born entrepreneurs as they have the qualities of patience, flexibility, empathy and a
willingness to ask for help that are required to build a successful business. More
power to us!
