Name: Arpita Mehta
Age: 32
City: Mumbai, India
Occupation: Fashion Designer

ST: Please tell us briefly about you.

Arpita: I
started my label in 2007. Arpita Mehta Label’s minimalistic yet fashionable
styles bring about a seamless blend of ethnic and contemporary designs that
enhance the feminine silhouette. Arpita Mehta label recognizes itself with its
signature aesthetic of hand embroidered mirror work ensembles in trendy cuts
and eclectic color combinations. I’ve been grateful to be featured by every
fashion publication, and dawned by every celebrity; the brand prides itself for
establishing its strong footprint in Indian and International markets.
ST:
Who is a woman that inspires you the most and why?

Arpita: My older sister is my
constant source of inspiration. She is a mother, wife sister, daughter and a
businesswoman, who manages to balance all her roles exceptionally well and with
utmost ease. I strive to be like her everyday.
ST: How are you celebrating this year’s International
Women’s Day?

Arpita: By treating myself!
ST: What is the most important message you want to
send out to all the women around the world on this occasion?

Arpita: Self-confidence is your best
accessory, so wear it with immense pride.

ST: What according to you is ‘women empowerment’?

Arpita: Being able to do what you
want without having to compromise is women empowerment for me.
ST: What would you say are the main challenges facing
women at present in India?

Arpita: Being heard out loud and
being taken seriously would be two our two constant challenges in India today.
ST: Where do you want to see yourself in next 5 years?

Arpita:
All over Indian
markets, as well as key international countries/ cities.
