Designer, Art & Event Curator, CEO – Sarto Label
major in graphic design from Lasalle, Singapore. Upon returning to India I
worked as an event curator, freelance designer, and art consultant. I soon
joined my family business of Hollywood prop, armour and garment manufacturing.
Alongside I launched my clothing brand, Sarto Label, combining my interest for
design and fashion. I currently also help manage a cafe called Cravity, founded
by my brother in Hauz Khaus Village, Delhi.
most and why?
admired Emma Watson. She’s young, dynamic and relatable. It is truly inspiring
to see how someone her age is achieving so much on a personal level and is
doing work that has a significant global impact as well. Her work with the UN
for the HeForShe campaign, among other work for women’s rights, is truly
remarkable. She definitely seems like she has it all, and makes all the
juggling look so effortless (and chic)!
International Women’s Day?
work involving education for underprivileged girls, and generating more
employment for women at my workplace. Continuing that, this year I am going to
a village nearby, to explore the local crafts and see how I can incorporate
them in my line of work, to generate some employment opportunities for women.
By giving them an opportunity to work from home, I hope to contribute in making
them feel more financially secure and independent.
you want to send out to all the women around the world on this occasion?
and understand that if you want to be treated like an equal, then BE the equal.
Work hard towards independence in every aspect of your life.
empowerment’?
rightfully yours without having to ask for it. It is when people truly
understand feminism and how it stands for equality, and not the common notion
of women being superior to men, or vice versa. Sometimes women deny themselves
their own rights. They need to be enlightened too!
challenges facing women at present in India?
of respect and seriousness when it comes to workingwomen are some of the most
pertinent challenges I see women face in India today.
next 5 years?
