PKC Laundries is an online
laundry services provider in Hyderabad.
At present, the startup is joining hands with gated communities,
apartments and villas to offer services with a motive to reduce the wastage of
water and electricity. As we all know that water is becoming scarce day-by-day,
PKC Laundries help people to reduce the wastage of water by providing laundry
services.

At present the service offerings of the startup include Wash & Iron, Wash
& Fold, Only Iron, Dry-cleaning, Darning, and Dyeing.

In an exclusive interview
with Startup Terminal, Premanth Kundurthi, popularly known as ‘PK’ CEO of PKC
Laundries shares more insights about the company and future goals.

Excerpts:
ST:
Please tell us more about your organization.

Premanth
Kundurthi:
We
are an online laundry services provider in Hyderabad. We provide a wide variety
of services like Wash & Iron, Wash & Fold, Only Iron, Dry-cleaning, Dyeing,
and Darning.

We are first of a kind in
Hyderabad, where we offer a free pickup and delivery of the clothes for a
minimum order of Rs.300.

ST:
What was your idea behind starting up a new venture?

Premanth
Kundurthi:
My
goal is always to do something for the society and the people. I wanted to
generate employment and help people lead a decent life. In spite of having so
many businesses why I wanted to choose a sector such as laundry is that, there
is a huge opportunity in this space. Yes, there are many startups in
germinating in this space, despite of this we noticed that there is a sea of
opportunity in this sector.

ST:
What business opportunities do you see in India particularly in your sector?

Premanth
Kundurthi:
As
we see that every house hold is having 2 pay cheque’s per month there is no time
for them to concentrate on such a mundane work like laundry. This itself is a
huge opportunity for the laundry sector. Basically a laundry sector can be
divided into a commercial and a retail segment. There is a lot of opportunity
in both these segments.

ST:
How has been your entrepreneurship journey so far?

Premanth
Kundurthi:
Coming
to the journey, it’s a roller coaster ride. It is exciting and at the same time
taxing too. We have started PKC 1.4 years earlier and I have learnt so many
things, met so many new people and understood what people actually want.
Entrepreneurship is not for the weak hearts..! It’s for them who are strongest
at their weakest times. Taking calculated risks is the pivotal point in an entrepreneur’s
career. See you soon!

ST:
What challenges do you face in your day to day professional life, if any?

Premanth
Kundurthi:
There
are many challenges be it operational wise or any other thing. But dealing with
them is our way of life. We entrepreneur’s do not run away from the challenges
but we face it. The main challenge lies in dealing with the employees (as the
people who are working with us are of the very narrow mindset, we need to make
them understand how life is and make them work with full spirit) Motivating
them is one of the biggest challenge. The rest of the challenges are okay and
we can deal with them.

ST:
How big is your team? Are you planning to hire more?

Premanth
Kundurthi:
We
are a team of 20 now. As we are growing we are planning to hire more people for
sales & marketing, delivery etc.

ST:
What are your future plans?

Premanth
Kundurthi:
We
have started our services in Vijayawada and Guntur also. We want to stabilize
our operations in all these three states and expand further.  We are a bootstrapped company till now and
looking to raise funds further on. These funds will be used for the improvement
of our technology and to stabilize our backend operations in these 3 cities. At
the moment we are having a strong customer base of around 1300-1500 members. We
can further increase it in the coming months.
