ST: According to you what is the biggest
environmental threat in the world at present?
Pooja: We
cannot separate ourselves from the environment as we rely on it strongly.
Globalisation and wasteful consumption and hoarding of goods is something that
is threatening the world at this point. Excessive materialism is bad. People
are hoarding things that they do not need. With increase in demand there are
more natural ingredients that are needed to produce them. There is ignorance
about the removal of scrap and waste. Use of plastic bags is minimised but what
about plastics in food items other packaging that is put in the garbage without
any recycling. Our rivers and seas have become polluted with the waste that is
mindlessly dumped in them. It’s a vicious cycle. We are doers of creating this
waste that leads to water and air pollution.Another
big dilemma is today cutting of trees and removal of agricultural land to build
housing societies or buildings. When we lose forests our soil becomes depleted.

ST: What do you think a common person
can do to help the environment?
can do to help the environment?
Pooja: We
all can go more towards nature, avoid processed food, carbonated drinks to
reduce waste. Be mindful of your needs and purchases. The goods should not be
bought for hoarding but consumption. It’s essential to unclutter and be mindful
of the waste management. When each one of us will work like this then only
environment and it’s people, animals and plants will benefit.

Encourage recycling and reusing of
goods. Do not purchase things that are not needed. Take care of garbage
removal. Always take out your stuff for recycling separately. Water is also
very precious. While some of have it flowing in our taps there are many in the
world who do not have clean drinking water. Please do not waste it. Reuse and
