“E-commerce is the next big thing. Thanks to the advancement in technology, we are no more restricted to a country, city or a shopping store.  Dimple Mirchandani, Founder & MD, Secret Dresser
ST Bureau: When did you
decide to take the path of entrepreneurship?

Dimple
Mirchandani:
I belong
to a Delhi based business family , graduated in the field of Accounting and
Finance from (University of Manchester, UK) , after which I got  International Certification as Nutrition And
Health Consultant from Institute For Integrative Nutrition (New york ,USA)
& Diploma in Sports Nutrition from Oxford Learning (UK) . Thereon I got on
to exploring various other fields and got certification in Astrology, Tarot
Reading & Numerology. Recently I was awarded international certification in
Yoga training & certification in Diamonds and gemology from GIA. Having
said all that, I started working at an early age and gained much insight of
business world by working for family business. However, my passion for doing
new things led me to start my own ventures.

ST Bureau: Please tell
us more about your venture briefly.

Dimple
Mirchandani:
Secret Dresser is a platform for buying and selling pre-owned Luxury products,
everything from Premium Indian designer wear like Sabhyasachi, Anjalee Arjun Kapoor
to watches, bags, shoes, jackets by International designers like Louis Vuitton,
Dior, Karen Millen, Ted baker. Anyone can buy and sell through the portal. Only
after proper authentication and evaluation the products are listed on the
portal at much discounted prices. It is all about sharing resources, the main
Idea is to increase the rotation of the products that will ultimately help save
resources of our planet. Also it will help people buy authentic luxurious
clothing at a minimal price range saving their money and time on searching for
lookalikes of original branded clothes which are hard to find.

ST Bureau: How big is
your team at present? Are you planning to increase your team size?

Dimple Mirchandani: We have a team of 11 people at
present, we may increase the size as and when the need arises.

ST Bureau: What is your
view about the opportunities for e-commerce sector in India?

Dimple
Mirchandani:
E-commerce
is the next big thing. Thanks to the advancement in technology, we are no more
restricted to a country, city or a shopping store. With the increasing
awareness and usage of smart phones, India is catching up to be a tech friendly
country. The awareness has penetrated deeper to tier 2 and tier 3 cities. Thus,
in the coming time e-commerce sector is expected to rise by leaps and bounds in
Indian market and for sure is here to stay.

ST Bureau: Can you tell
us more about challenges of Indian luxury retail market?

Dimple
Mirchandani:
Indian
luxury market in E-commerce sector is comparatively a new market. It sure comes
with a set of challenges. However, in the past few years challenges have been
overcome with new features and technology – for example better payment options,
safer transaction, more transparency in the market, increasing awareness of
internet etc.

ST Bureau: What are the
challenges that an entrepreneur has to face in early stages?

Dimple
Mirchandani:
Every
startup comes with a set of challenges of its own. A new venture never comes easy.
An entrepreneur has to face rigidity at every step, but I believe it’s necessary
to climb that ladder step by step in order to reach the top – only those who
believe in themselves and learn to be better from every experience are the ones
who make it there. I truly believe that challenges are good – they make you
work harder & there is nothing that cannot be done over with hard work and dedication.

ST Bureau:  What tips would you like to give to the
aspiring entrepreneurs?

Dimple
Mirchandani:
Stay fit
– Live a balanced life, be close to nature – rise with the sun, eat real food,
be connected to yourself, trust yourself enough and whatever you do – give it a
100%. No matter what just keep going. Be better each day.
