Name: Gitikka Ganju Dhar

City: Mumbai, India

Occupation: Anchor, Writer, Moderator, Actor

She is a veteran of more than two dozen television shows and more than three thousand live events across the globe. Her sheer talent and skill are admired by one and all in the industry. She is idolized by the young blood entering the Indian live industry. Her versatility, spontaneity, dynamic personality, vibrance, the ability to rule the stage and her audience, her legendary professionalism and discipline mark her a cut above the rest. Whether a corporate event, government or social event she always raises the bar and takes the event to different level.

The intellectual quotient she brings to the job is unparalleled. She is also a content curator, moderator, and writer and is India’s preferred anchor for content based conferences and government events that involve the presence of Heads of State, Presidents, and Prime Ministers.

Gitikka Ganju Dhar is one of India’s leading live talents, First Awardee Live Quotient Awards Best Anchor India, she has been honoured with the Bharat Nirman Award for her contribution to the field of anchoring in India. She has been awarded the first Best Anchor India Female at EEMAX Spotlight Awards 2017 and Best Emcee Award India by Business World BW Applause Awards 2017, taking her total tally of Best Anchor awards to four!

Gitikka believes that her work is the real celebrity and is the force behind her unstoppable career in the world of talk. Her presence in the leadership bracket for almost two decades is standing proof of her unwavering popularity and solid expertise. One may see her wielding the baton of a motivational speaker in a few years from now. “Nothing matters more to me than being respected, as a professional, as a creative person, and as a woman. “ She says. Well, they don’t call her one of the most respected anchors of the country for nothing!

ST: Who is a woman that inspires you the most and why?

Gitikka: There existed and exist today too, so many wonderful, brave women, how can I pick just one and name her as the one who inspires me. I am motivated with the bravery of Joan of Arc and Lakshmibai, the Rani of Jhansi, I am inspired by the mind of Maya Angelou and Kiran Bedi and I am comforted by the talent of Meryl Streep and Oprah Winfrey and I am blown with the beauty of Madhubala and Maharani Gayatri Devi and I am richer from having witnessed the eras of Mother Teresa and Indira Gandhi. All women are born to inspire. When you look closely, you will fathom the enormity and beauty of being a woman.

ST: How are you celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day?

Gitikka: Well, I do not exactly celebrate Women’s Day, but this year I will be marking the day by playing moderator at a panel discussion curated by Maximus Minds, the topic of conversation being : Women and War. We will have on board eminent war journalist Sue Tarton, Capt. Raghu Ramand WG Cdr Pooja Yadav. There are a few of my interviews that will be shared online, all of them expressing my thoughts on various issues affecting our gender. Other than that, I dream of a day when the world will not have to mark Women’s Day in the way it is marked today.

ST: What is the most important message you want to send out to all the women around the world on this occasion?

Gitikka: You are every woman, it is all in you!

ST: What according to you is ‘women empowerment’?

Gitikka: The luxury, freedom and opportunity to do, as one pleases. The power to be, the power to do and the power to dream.

ST: What would you say are the main challenges facing women at present in India?

Gitikka: Lack of education, lack of sanitation, lack of security and lack of support to new mothers. The gravest issue that needs to be addressed is the safety and security of women in India, great efforts need to be made to change the dangerous male mindset that unleashes the beast in them. The law needs to be stringent and prompt action needs to be meted out to offenders. I also feel that the portrayal of women in media and films need to be taken seriously as these mediums leave a major impact on unevolved minds.

ST: Where do you want to see yourself in next 5 years?

Gitikka: I see myself a happy person, travelling the world, learning Kathak, practicing Yoga, eating right, delivering motivational talks, writing my books, hosting my show, bringing up my daughter, cheering for my husband and caring for my parents. I see myself bubbling my way through life.
