ST: Please tell us more about yourself.

Kamalika Bhattacharya: I am the CEO of QuoDeck Technologies, a global B2B SaaS product in the Enterprise Learning space. Before founding QuoDeck, I spent over 13 years primarily in investment banking, helping startups and large companies raise capital from investors. I am also a graduate of ISB.

Kamalika Bhattacharya,
CEO, QuoDeck Technologies
Tiring of being on the opposite side from what I always considered to be the more exciting side of things – the entrepreneur’s- I founded QuoDeck along with my husband in 2010. Today QuoDeck is one of the top products in this space with over 62,000 learners from 20+ companies using QuoDeck to learn. Globally, it is used by over 500 creators from 40 countries to create game-based mobile learning.

ST: Who is your biggest influence in life?

Kamalika Bhattacharya: My father has been the biggest influence in my life. He taught me to appreciate the value of hard work and standing for what I believe in. As a PSU employee who went on to become the Executive Director of BHEL, I saw him stand up and be counted in a system that’s not inherently designed to reward straight shooters. Though he didn’t understand initially why I wanted to upset the apple cart and take on the risk of starting a business, he has been one of my staunchest supporters.

ST: What challenges do you face in your day to day professional life, if any?

Kamalika Bhattacharya: As a woman entrepreneur in the technology space, I think it is challenging to manage pressures from work and home. While juggling family and work is becoming second nature, it still poses its challenges. Of course, working as a husband and wife founding team can help alleviate that pressure slightly. I have an understanding husband when it comes to work pressures, because he’s right there beside me!

ST: Where do you want to see yourself in next 5 years down the line?

Kamalika Bhattacharya: Managing a thriving QuoDeck ecosystem globally. I want to see this established as the go-to product brand in enterprise learning across the world.

ST: What is your message to the readers on ‘International Women’s Day’?

Kamalika Bhattacharya: It is customary to talk of balance when it comes to talking about women, but I have a different message. The world around us is changing to see women as the mother of dragons rather than the lady with the lamp. It is okay to be a go-getter, and to want the world to accept you as fire and not earth.
